Steve Zagor

Steve Zagor has a unique insider’s perspective from which to take us on this humorous journey into the dark garbage cans of the food world. He has burned scars and battle wounds from his over 30 years of extensive restaurant industry roles to prove it. Known for his quick wit, creative quips and humorous observations, Steve not only instills knowledge and insights, but he also uses the classroom and industry gatherings to test and polish his comedy skills. He has co-written two musical comedies, as well as provided targeted jokes for news reporters, a congressperson, a business publication editor, and countless others who have “stolen/borrowed” his material.

Steve’ multifaceted career has included owning a multi-concept restaurant/retail/club group, directing a $10 million NYC restaurant, and serving as a regional consulting leader in food business advisory for a worldwide financial firm. Steve’s expertise extends beyond the business side – he holds a master’s degree from Cornell in Hotel Administration and has appeared as a guest expert on the Food Network. He is quoted extensively in major national publications and blogs with one national writer calling him his best source for article ending humor.

Currently, Steve is a popular faculty member at NYU and Columbia Business School, where he developed courses in Food/Restaurant Entrepreneurship and the Business of Nutrition. His students regularly acclaim his mixture of humor and creativity. He is also in high demand as a speaker, panelist, and moderator at industry events across the country, using his unique blend of humor, ventriloquism, and magic to captivate audiences. As a consultant, Steve is valued for his breadth of knowledge and creative problem-solving abilities. Through his unique platforms, he has seen or met an army of foodie legends and wannabees who will be parodied in The Food Freneticks.

Steve’s “Food Freneticks” is a witty, fun-filled satirical exploration of the food industry’s transformation into a cultural phenomenon. With celebrity chefs attaining rock icon status, foods and dining elevated to cult-like reverence, and dietary/nutrition trends granted near-mythical and often fleeting significance, it’s time to peel back the layers and parody the joy of food.
